| Did anyone see this new series tonight? Whilst not directly related to Avebury the series may touch on megalith archaeology at some point.
I have to say I have been on a lot of digs and they are all like that. Terence and I are forever hacking our way through dense undergrowth to uncover lost tombs littered with skellies and gems and hardly a week goes by without having to lower BB on a thick rope into a subterainean chamber to retrieve a lost text of one sort or another. The bit that didn't ring true was the bit at the end when the archaeo said "Lets go to the pub" That wouldn't happen in real life...

| it's a long story but it started with the program advisor Mark Horton of Bristol Uni coming to Avebury to film a series named Time Flyers some years ago. I watched aghast as he burnt a sarsen stone on fyfield down for 5 minutes of cheap TV. He claimed it was for a research paper into burning pits but he never published anything about it.
I like watching people trying to dig their way out of a hole....
